Timing is Everything
The thunder outside Leefah's house rumbled the windows.
"Why has the weather been so strange lately...."
Leefah tied her hair up and changed her clothes for sleeping.
"And this strange feeling... Like space is being warped...."
Little lights flashed as a small portal appeared.
But soon, the portal began to fade, almost as though it couldn't latch onto the ground.
Leefah squinted out into the rain.
"It better not be Tophet and Joker again..."
Leefah turned around and headed for her bed.
"I should sleep though, Tomorrow is a big day."
"That book will be pu....pu...." Leefah began, though fading into sleep before she could say publish.
"And now for your evening news everyone!"
"Hello everyone! Your normal host is not around right now so I'm filling in"
"Ugh, I hate this channel"
"In other words, The case of the missing children has finally closed and our original suspect Miss Leefah Kagyura has been released from custody yesterday after being found near a cemetery"
"And?...."
"Interesting.."
"I haven't even heard such a potion.... Something that could heal an.... an... an android?...."
"What kind of creature is an android?..."
"Something not known to the public?...."
"In other news, the one who were proven guilty, also known as Tophet Tightrope and The Joker, have yet to be found"
The thunder rumbled outside.
"This feeling.....Why is it so strange...."
The portal grasped onto the ground as it was pulled into space once again, disappearing...."
The Next Day
Atlas glanced at a calendar lying on the counter.
Thunder continued to roll outside.
"Hm... The first day of fall is it?...."
"Perhaps a nice pumpkin pie for breakfast?..."
Leefah turned in her sleep, mumbling over something trying to grab her arm through the pitch blackness of a room.
"The book doesn't make any sense... Although this potion that could let Atlas stay in the sunlight longer might be useful...."
"But I can't find anything on that thing called an android...."
"If I remember, Leefah should be waking up soon. She better not be late for that interview later"
Leefah turned over, causing a bead of sweat on her head to roll onto the pillow.
"Whatever, I give up."
Suddenly, Leefah's lights shot on and her alarm signaled.
She looked up sleepily, and looked out the window.
The rain continued to stream down the glass.
'What time is it?....." she mumbled.
"Only 4:30?......" she rubbed her eyes and stepped up.
"Better shower then...."
She walked to the bathroom, already sliding off her clothes.
Atlas looked back, feeling the odd feeling he had earlier.
"Oh I know! I can check the timeline of events for the world...."
"Hmm....Nothing happened in the past day that dealt with those androids...."
Leefah turned on the water and steam filled the bathroom.
"It feels so great....." Leefah muttered, splashing water over her face.
"Is the mark beginning to cause this...."
Leefah shoved her face into the boiling water to wake herself up.
Her mark began to flash ,unnoticeable to the common eye
"Leefah! Chasity!! Breakfast is almost ready!"
Leefah stepped out of the shower as her phone began to ring.
"Oh... It's Ahora..... Might as well answer it..."
"Hello?...."
"LEEFAH!! Why haven't you called me back girlfriend! You didn't forget my wedding is in a few hours! You gotta be there!!" shouted Ahora through the phone.
"How could I...."
"His name was.... Josh right?...."
"No... this one's Nathan... Josh was the guy I married a few weeks ago..." Ahora replied snobbishly.
"Right.... How could I ever get them confused....."
"I just have an interview with the mayor later and then gotta pick up your gift. I'll be there okay?...."
"Fine, Love you girl!!" shouted Ahora, making kissing sounds.
Leefah sighed.
"Might as well get ready..."
"I love this necklace so much!"
"Oh my... Is that something in my teeth?.."
"Hurry up ladies!! Leefah, you have a long day!!"
"Almost....."
"Finished...." Leefah answered as she assessed herself in the mirror.
"Coming my darling!" Chasity shouted.
"Don't make me barf..." Atlas muttered, spitting in Chasity's cup.
"So... What are we having for breakfast?"
Atlas lifted the mugs out of the coffee dispenser. "Pumpkin Pie and Eggnog, A festive day isn't it? I even got YOU, Chasity, a special mug...." Atlas said, handing her the one with spit on the bottom.
"You're too kind..."
Leefah walked down the stairs, "Good Morning..."
"Morning Sweetie" Chasity replied, playing with her sparkles.
Leefah looked towards the wall, "Do... Do you feel that?...."
"Glad I'm not the only one..."
"No.. I think you are...." Chasity replied, tousling his hair.
"It just this weird feeling... Like we're all being sucked away...."
"Apparently that's what it feels like to have your soul eaten, but I wouldn't know..."
"That's not disturbing in the slightest...."
"I think it sounded sexy"
"God, you have always been hitting on me for past few days.... I swear it is creepy as hell... am I'm a freaking demon..... FROM HELL!"
"Oh Atlas...."
"I didn't know you loved me that much..."
"I want to fucking murder you...."
"If it's code for sex, then I will murder you so hard later"
"I would rather.... You not ever say those words... ever.... for the rest of time..."
"Technically I can't order her around so.... Suck it up Atlas..."
"She loves me more" Chasity teased, sipping her eggnog.
'So why do you think that strange feeling is here... is there something wrong?..."
"Hmmm.... You said it felt like we were being sucked away?..."
"Yeah... Did one of your fortunes tell you something?...."
"I haven't read the fortune ball in a while, but I did read that strange events are happening all over town."
"What kind of events?"
"As in... The paranormal?...."
"No, nothing like that... Apparently, sightings of a type of portal were reported. People try to get close but they always notice it too late..."
"That is pretty strange.... Didn't realize you could read you fly..."
Chasity nearly snapped at Atlas as he walked past her.
"So... This sounds like the perfect mystery for me to solve..."
"You're kidding right?..."
"Of course not..."
"Good for you girl"
"I will not allow it. Something like this that even a demon can't tell what it is.... it's a whole different scale of danger!"
"I order you to let me, and I order you to make more pie because this is totes delish"
"Scew you, and thank you for that compliment. I put nutmeg in the pie to make it taste good"
"Wow, I can really taste it"
"Mm.... What about the eggnog..."
"I spit a huge luggie in it. Enjoy my snot you fly...."
"Can't you just get a long.... If not then I want Chasity to tell my fortune again. It really helped the last time around"
"Her symbols meant nothing....."
"Um, she loved my help. I saved her life with those spot on fortunes"
"Don't worry, we can finish our spit play later. And make sure to put more alcohol in the eggnog next time. I like the little buzz it gives"
"I didn't put any in..."
"Yeah, so put tons in next batch" she said, dumping whiskey into her drink.
"That's an order"
"I will not let you ever get drunk, That would be the worst thing in all of history"
"You're mom was the worst thing in all of history!" Chasity shouted as she sipped from her now alcoholic eggnog.
"CHASITY!"
"I believe she was talking to me... not you..."
"Oh... well that makes more sense then...." she twiddled her thumbs a little bit.
"Is something wrong?...."
"Leefah?! You coming?!"
"Yeah, in a minute!" Leefah shouted back.
She turned to Atlas.
"What... What do you think it could be?...."
"Not even I could guess that, her stupid ball is your best bet as guessing..."
"I guess you're right..."
"Maybe a nice prince can save me this time... not some pervert in his underwear..." she dreamed.
"You said that out loud...."
"Ohhh, it would be so amazing...."
"I can still hear you!!"
Leefah dreamed as she walked down the stairs.
"All these women are crazy.... We need more dudes in this house" Atlas sighed, beginning to clean the dishes.
"You ready?"
"Have a seat..."
"So... How yah feeling?...."
"Oh you know.. It's so funny..."
"I woke up feeling really unlucky... Hopefully my fortune isn't bad too..."
"Usually your mood doesn't affect it, though I wouldn't say that it won't happen..."
"Okay then... Let's do this..."
Chasity lifted the crystal ball into the air with her magic.
"Huh... The signs are a little fuzzy right now..."
"They aren't bad signs are they?...."
"No no..."
"So they are good signs!"
"I dunno... I see the Gemini sign... Sign of the twins... You aren't pregnant are you..."
"Oh god....."
"I'M PREGNANT?! WHOS THE DAD?!"
"You aren't pregnant...."
"Oh no..... AHORA"
"No way!"
"Yeah I know, the bitch got laid and all. She said her ex caught her getting plowed at the park and everything."
"No not that.... Although we need to talk about some things after this is done.... Umm.. Anyways, Its the constellation Horologium... Something about time..."
"Oh god...."
"Yeah, it's surrounded by black matter.... Something terrible is happening around time space..."
"You're pregnant!"
"What... No... FOCUS!"
"How can I... Someone I know is pregnant!"
"Drop the whole kid thing! I found something good!"
Leefah perked up, "Ohh... what is it?..."
"Well, It was a vision of a portal popping up. Somewhere outside and in a few minutes..."
"Then I better get going..."
"What... But Atlas said not to get involved with this..."
"But It could be something Tophet and Joker are doing..."
"I can't just sit around and do nothing....."
"Yeah, you can. Tons of people do that, it's called being a bystander...."
"Well I'm an upstander"
"You such a good person...."
"Straight up"
"........."
"Bring me some Twizzlers and I won't tattle to Atlas..."
"You're such a punk aren't you"
"DO IT SKANK!"
"Fine" Leefah said laughing.
"Hecks yeah"
"Atlas I'm going out..."
"Where"
"To um... get some Twizzlers for Chasity.... Like a payment for my fortune..."
"You girls are so weird..."
Leefah exited the house and saw the paper boy.
His mouth was wide open as he watched a light flash quickly and a zapping sound was made.
"WHOA!!! That was awesome!!"
"What in the world is that....."
"Is that...... what people claim to have been seeing...."
Leefah walked around the portal, examining it.
"Why is this thing here....."
She tapped her foot on the center of the base of the the portal, causing the center to begin sucking in air and electrify the surrounding area.
"What the heck!" Leefah shouted backing up.
"Bright!!" Leefah yelled.
Suddenly, someone grabbed at her through the portal.
"HOLY CRAP!!" she shouted, stumbling back.
A man busted through the electricity and landed in the center of the portal.
"Who.... who are you..." Leefah asked cautiously.
The man looked around and sniffed the air. "Young lady..... What day is it...."
"Umm... Its September 4th.... 2014...."
"No way!!... Amazing...."
"Not really.... Who are you exactly..."
"Oh, excuse my rudeness... My name is Emit Relevart."
Leefah giggled.
"So... Emit.... Where are you from?..."
"This guy must be prince I've been dreaming of!!" she though to herself, giddy with excitement.
'Why, the future of course.... I want to pass on my legacy"
"And because you were so nice enough to secure my portal in this time period, I'm presenting you with this" he said, presenting Leefah with a tablet.
"Whoa..... Its the iPad from the super future isn't it!!"
"N...No.... It's called the almanac of time..."
"The what of time?... Is that just fancy words for your iPad. I called mine Tina"
"IT'S NOT.....an iPad.... It controls time..."
"Like the Tardis from Doctor Who?..."
"I'm not... I don't know what that is... Just take it before I change my mind...."
"Oh... Okay then...."
The Almanac beeped in her hands, "New Owner.... Leefah Kagyura has been set" is answered in a computer like voice.
"Whoa...the iPad even has siri on it still!"
"Uh... Yeah sure....."
"I'll take good care of this...."
"Good, But the portal should be adjusted for my return before I leave it here with you... I have my own almanac and plan to make another once I'm back..."
"Oh, Okay then... HEY! I can I see where you are from!"
"I promise not to touch a butterfly or anything!!"
"Well... I don't think its a great idea to do that...."
"Aww... But I'm so cute and stuff... C'mon...." Leefah said, making a sad face and trying to show off her breasts.
"Are you.... Are you trying to seduce me into taking you to my time...."
"Depends......"
"Is it working....."
"A little... But the answer is still no...."
"Ohh.... Well... I guess I can just shatter the portal when you leave..."
"Wow... Way to stab me in the heart..."
"C'mon.... Please... Just for a little bit... I gotta be sure I can work this thing right..."
"Ugh.... Well.... I guess...."
Leefah began to smile, "Oh thank you!!"
'"Yeah yeah, let me set it first..."
Emit tuned and began to fumble with the portal.
"So... How long will this take..."
"I gotta fulfill Chasity's fortune and have those twins..." she thought to herself.
"Not much longer..."
"So, What kind of job do you have...."
"An inventor...."
"Oh... Cool... So... am I remembered in the future?..."
Emit scanned the portal with his almanac, "Um, I dunno..."
"Maybe... You can check the archives when you get there if you want..."
"Oh really...."
"He's so cute...." Leefah thought as she fanned herself.
"Hmm... I think it's set...."
"Here let me check, I just shove my hand in right?"
"What! No! I need to be sure this is set!"
"Guess wherever I end up will tell us if you were right"
Leefah gazed into the portal.
She slowly put her hand in.
She began to feel her body being dragged in.
"CRAP! There's no going back now..."
Leefah's mark began to glow.
"Oh wow!! This is so scary!!"
"You brought this upon yourself!"
"Whoa.... WAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" Leefah screamed as she was sucked into the portal.
"What the heck.... The bond.... It's like there's a wall.... I can't tell where she is....... What did she do..." he asked as she looked back towards the door.
Leefah stepped out of the portal slowly.
Her heels clicked as she walked along the stone of the roof where she landed.
"Oh wow.... This... This...."
"Is the future...."
"Emit!! Emit you gotta come see!" Leefah said, looking around at the new technologies.
"The town hall... It's huge!!"
Emit began to form out of bits of particles in front of her.
"Yes... Welcome to Oasis Springs, I believe it was built in the same location as your time's Monte Vista..."
"What year am I at?...."
"Why Miss Leefah......."
"The Year 3000" Emit Laughed.
