The fire in Leefah's kitchen began to die down.
Leefah sat on her floor and watched as the flames extinguished on their own. She looked down at Chasity."What do we do now..." Chasity asked worriedly, "If you don't have an oven then you can't make food and you'll starve to death".
Leefah glared at her floor.
"I KNOW!" she screamed and jumped up.
"What?! Did you think of something smart for once?!" asked Chasity now getting excited.
"Yeah! I'll just drink juice till I can fix the stove!" she said happily.
"Uh... That's not eating... That's drinking. You need ACTUAL food to survive in life you know..." said Chasity annoyed.
"Then I'll start a garden and make salads till I can pay off the stove." Leefah said heading over to drink a juice box.
"oh... My poor door...." Leefah said sadly.
"So... I calculated how much it SHOULD be to fix it if you let me call a repair man..." said Chasity.
"And?" asked Leefah as she sipped her juice.
"And, It totals up to a thousand dollars-ish. So you make 25$ an hour... about two weeks counting your bills for the house and food buying. As long as you save your money and don't buy anything unnecessary you'll be fine." said Chasity with hope filling her eyes.
"I got fired" said Leefah breaking the already thin ice between her and Chasity.
"......What...." replied Chasity.
Leefah threw her juice away and placed Chasity on her pedestal. "Yeah... they called during the fire" she answered.
"AND YOU DIDN'T FEEL LIKE MENTIONING SOMETHING IMPORTANT LIKE THAT?!" yelled Chasity.
Leefah rubbed her neck, "Well we were panicking and stuff..." she began
"It's no big deal..." she said.
"YES! IT IS! We are broke!! You have no job! You're going to kill youself living like this!... Plus, I was not panicking, you were! You kept screaming 'Lifeguard! Save us!' while I made sex jokes about AHORA!" yelled Chasity.
Leefah changed to her normal clothes and folded her underwear, placing it the ruined oven. "I can burn off the smell with the extra heat from that fire" she said happily.
"You aren't even listening to me?!" yelled Chasity.
"I gotta clean... Plus... Why are you always so mean.... Because... well... you care a lot for no reason and I just met you?..." asked Leefah taking out a mop.
"I.... I just don't wanna see someone like you get hurt by a beautiful yet cruel world..." said Chasity calming down.
"Why's that? I'm use to getting hurt..." said Leefah as she scrubbed off the burns on the wood.
"Well.. You took me in and cared... I'm trying to do the same..." Chasity said, trying to get through to Leefah.
Leefah paused cleaning.
"You don't have to care so much, I'm perfectly fine alone. My mother left us when I was just a baby, my father hated me ever since... I'm not even sure why." Leefah said sadly. She turned around and began cleaning near the door.
Chasity paused and sighed, "Leefah... I can see into your heart and your loneliness. I know you want a friend and that's why you look for the best in people even though you expect rejection..." Chasity suggested leaning against the glass of her case.
Leefah looked over as she cleaned the last of the burns off the floor.
"You can't deny it... Leefah you are such a sweet and wonderful young lady.... Why do you let people push you around..." asked Chasity.
"Well... It's just easier... I only had one friend growing up and she's gone too... I'm always left alone... I'm used to it by now..." Leefah replied. Her phone began to ring.
She looked at the ID, "It's Adora... Should I answer?.." asked Leefah.
"I won't stand between you and a potential best friend..." answered Chasity. She lowered her head and flew into a tiny covering in her cave that acted as a bedroom and left Leefah to her chat with Adora.
"Hi Adora!" said Leefah.
"UM! SWEETIE!" yelled Adora.
"Is something wrong?.." asked Leefah worriedly.
"NOTHING IS WRONG WITH ME! IT'S YOU!!" yelled Adora angrily.
"Oh dear... Did i do something wrong..." asked Leefah concerned.
"YES! OBVIOUSLY!" yelled Adora.
"Can I ask why you are yelling..." asked Leefah.
"HUH?!... Oh... SORRY! I'm in the car and am on speaker phone.. you know... don't text and drive and all... I'll be at your house soon for your make over... Okay?" yelled Adora as she cursed at another driver.
"Umm.... Okay.. See ya then.." replied Leefah hanging up the phone.
"Chasity?..." asked Leefah. She looked at Chasity's little hideout.
"Chasity come out and talk..." Leefah asked worriedly.
Chasity looked towards the door.
"Is something wrong..." asked Leefah.
Chasity tucked her legs into her arms and curled into a ball. "Your friend's here.." she answered.
Adora rang the doorbell non-stop.
"CMON!! OPEN UP!!!" she yelled.
Leefah came out and greeted her. "Hi Adora, how are you?" she asked.
"Oh.. Fine.. Had sex with my husband, taught kids their math, LEARNED MY FRIEND WAS ALMOST BURNT ALIVE THIS MORNING?!" she yelled in Leefah's face.
"Whoa!... I'm sorry.. Is that why you were mad?" she asked.
"The flames were only a little taller than me so it wasn't that bad...." she said trying to calm Adora's nerves.
Adora smirked at her. "Sweetie.. I'm trying to care here... Don't make me not want to anymore..." she answered brushing off a speck of dust from her shirt.
Leefah shrugged, "Okay... Sorry for not calling to tell you then." she answered quickly.
"Yeah... Whatever.. Listen I told you I would get you a makeover and what are we standing here for? Let's go!" she said.
"Uh... I'm so sorry... I'm broke... I can't even afford to fix my stove or sink or door..." she said.
Adora sighed and laughed, "I said I would take care of it. Now get it the car!" she shouted.
Leefah twiddled her thumbs. "Soo.... Nice car?..." she said.
"It's crap..." answered Adora quickly.
"Nice effort... Here.. Lemme get to know you better. "What's you're dream job?" she asked.
Leefah paused and looked over. "Promise not to laugh?" she asked.
"Sure... Go ahead and say!" Adora said smiling.
"Well.... I've always wanted to be a writer.... You know... for the newspaper?" she said.
"Aww... You are too adorable!" Adora said swerving onto a street.
"So.. what's your dream?" she asked.
Adora slammed on the breaks, "Another time. Let's go!" she shouted.
Adora jumped out and ran for the salon.
Leefah ran after her to not risk being left behind.
Adora walked in with Leefah.
"Head over to that room over there and I'll send my friend in to help." said Adora walking off.
Leefah looked around awkwardly and entered a changing room.
"Wow... Fancy..." she said to herself.
Suddenly, a pregnant lady walked in.
"Alright, you must be Adora's friend?" she asked.
Leefah nodded. "Yes, although I don't really.."
"Shut up sweetie." Adora said walking in, "Let Adalina handle this.
"Turn to the right.." Adalina demanded.
Leefah turned and posed in the mirror then laughed, making a duck face at her reflection.
"So.. Can you fix her up" asked Adora.
"Um.. Leefah right? Where on earth did you buy these?" asked Adalina.
Leefah turned again and smiled at herself. "I was sitting on this tree stump naked one day and singing when these animals gave me these clothes. It was so magical." Leefah said as she remembered the day.
Adalina and Adora stepped back. Adalina whipered in Adora's ear, "This Bitch is cray to the ZEE..."
"But it's true...." Leefah said back beginning to sadden.
"I'm just gonna... I'm gonna go..." Adora said awkwardly and walked out.
Adelina took out a pair of clothes, "Alright... I think I know just what you need. Change into these please.
Leefah loved her new outfit. She squeeled when she looked in the mirror.
"Please don't...." Adelina said. "You're friend already payed so just make sure to come back whenever you wanna change of style okay?" Adelina said grabbing her purse.
Leefah smiled at herself. "Wow... Thank you so much!" she yelled and jumped off the platform hugging Adelina. She noticed a tiny smile on her face but Adelina pushed away a second later.
"Take care miss... Watch yourself here...." she offered as advice.
Leefah looked back in the mirror... "I don't think you need to worry about the Leefah that Adora may have told you about..." she said giggling.
